I pick Sarah Palin as a strong speaker. She holds her ground and knows how to win people over which she done a good job in the recent election. Other than being the mayor of Alaska, Sarah Palin is a major international star with lots potential in the near future in entertainment and politics. Her strength is attractiveness with credibility being her weakness but she shows charisma and passion in success and people can relate to that.
During the campaign Ms. Palin spent alot of time speaking and going on tours trying to stand for women and power making a historic run similar to Hillary Clinton. If she was to build ethos, She will need to focus on staying out of the media's spotlight when it comes to family troubles like teenage pregnancies and shooting animals. If she can build on making changes in Alaska and the U.S. in areas like jobs, environment and housing then she will have more respect.

Hello Drew! I am glad you brought up Palin as a speaker. Setting aside some of her weaknesses that you mentioned, what was it about her platform behavior, or content of her speeches for that matter, made her a decent speaker? What standards of evaluation should we set when evaluating a person in her position?
ReplyDelete(A bit of an off topic question here, but do you think the media was fair in evaluating her as a candidate? What was communicated to the general public through the media?)
I never would have thought about Gov. Palin, but she may actually be a perfect candidate for this post. I agree with you about both her strengths and weaknesses. Her attractiveness is no doubt her greatest strength. But when looking back at her candidacy, her attractiveness may have been one of her weaknesses as well (besides her credibility of course.)
ReplyDeleteLooking back, all of the jokes about her being "hot" may have hurt her more then helped her. People don't seem to take attractive women seriously.
Maybe next time she runs she will run more on a credible platform and less on her image.
