Ch1 Question 2
Being a good Orator i believe does not mean that one has to be completley good morally if he is communicating to the public and not creating a close relationship. When i think of people who are good at selling their pitch across to other people i think of it as a skill and a way of getting what one wants at whatever costs. I do believe that it will indeed catch up to the Orator sooner or later if he/she is not morally good. The old saying that one little lie always is larger that it really is because it leads to another lie and another until it becomes so large that you are constantly coming up with lies and one becomes way in over their head with these stories. This is where public communication and goodness come into connection with truth because in order to keep a good reputation and not get caught up in a lie, one needs to be truthfull and honest to the people they are communicating with.

I totally agree with you on being a good orator does not mean you have to be completely good morally. Like in my blog, I think you just have to appear trustworthy and believable to gain the trust of your target audience. Like you said, selling their pitch, it is a skill. Not so much as morals. And yes, if you are not honest, it will may eventually catch up to you. If you're not careful, your orator days could be over. So there is a connection between goodness and public communication. The Greeks did have a very good point.
ReplyDeleteYou bring up a good point in which I did not think of as far as being a good orator. Almost like a car sales man who will do anything in their power or tell you what you want to hear just to sell you a car.
ReplyDeleteYou bring up another good point how lies build on top of lies and sooner or later, you are lying to cover another lie.
I couldn't have said it better myself. You really went straight to the point. A person who is not morally good can be skilled at what they do. Keep it up.
ReplyDeleteI agree that to be a good orator does not require good moral standing. People can risk losing their respect by acting amoral, but I think you are right that it will always catch up with them. This is proven time and time again with numerous different famous speakers.
