Week 13 Question 1

1). How are organizations tied to the environment? What is the relationship between the school you attend and the city or town in which it is situated? What, if any, ethical obligations does an organization like a college or university have to the local community?

Organizations to me define a community since it brings a type on genre to the area. Living in the United States we try and aim to be innovators and leaders for the world. Many countries have their strengths and living in Northern California we harvest some of the worlds best technology headquarters known to mankind. I can learn to appreciate these organizations since they have brought my family great careers and friends from around the world. San Jose State is great because it is a place where international people can come and feel comfortable within our community. With family in So Cal, Montana and Boston obviously people from around the world have made livings in the US but the global melting pot called Silicon Valley is truly unique since we have learned to live together in one society regardless of where you were born. The diversity has been used in the workforce as a strength allowing everyones strengths to contribute to the company and creating success which we all and the rest of the world can recognize.

  1. ey Drew!
I enjoyed reading your post this week. I must agree that the Bay Area is filled with people of many cultural backgrounds. We are truly lucky to have so much diversity in the Bay Area. I enjoyed reading your example of the bay area and how its holds many tech companies. Companies such as apple, sun Microsystems, and google have all found a home hear in Silicon Valley. I also feel that the example of these tech companies really mimic the analogy of a living "organism". Living organisms must adapt to their environments much like what many tech companies here in the Bay area are doing. They adapt to the downward spiral of the economy and adjust to survive in the world. I also agree that San Jose State is truly a wonderful place where people from all walks of life attend and get their education. We are really lucky to be attending a school with rich diversity and living in a place where you can come in contact with many cultures. Great Post Drew!
