W17 Q1

What I found interesting was the survey research section and how the question system is used to find information about group of people. It has been a growing trend to see questionnaires on the internet to gather polls about groups of people. Just a few days ago I went on Yahoo.com to look up the weather for the weekend and their was a poll on the previous page about who did I think was going to win the NBA playoffs. This does not gather information about who took the poll unless they ask about age, gender, location, etc., but the information gathered is more and more accurate when more people take the poll.

  1. I agree with what you said about it being a growing trend to see questionnaires on the internet to gather polls about groups of people. I notice that more and more companies are using the internet, and especially social media sites as a sort of focus group. This actually makes sense though because they can reach a large group of people and it is extremely cost effective.

Who do you think puts on the polls such as the NBA playoffs one that you saw? I wonder, I guess it could be the NBA or whatever broadcasting company has the rights to the games ('im not a fan of basketball so I have no idea). Polls are a good, quick way to get info, but I wonder how effective it is for them. It would be interesting to get those statistics.

    Good post.

  2. You see surveys and questionnaires everywhere now. Even in the mail with letters you are recieving. Questionaires are a new trend to see what people want and business's use this to understand what the needs of people are so they can sell to them advertise to them to earn their business and get their money.
